Pecan, sometimes called Peak, or Boo, was our pick from the Tres & Jagger litter. She is my little nut. This young pup had such focus that once we started agility training she immediately got it. Pecan is a beautiful, structurally sound golden, with border collie intensity on the agility course. Peak has the speed and drive of her big brother Charger, but because of her smaller stature, is more maneuverable. She flies through an agility course. 2006 - Pecan had gone from Novice to Excellent in only six trials. She understood the game, now she needed the experience. Unfortunately we had to take some time off because I broke my foot when Pecan's mother, Tres, and I collided during a run. Note to self and others: Remember to always watch your dog!!! 2007 - Does this girl get it! Pecan is completing jumpers' courses in 26-28 seconds; standard courses in her fastest time yet - 43 seconds!!! We’ve only been competing for 2 years (1 year in Excellent B), yet we are within a few double q’s of a MACH. Pecan has definitely benefited from my running Charger. My skills were better to handle Pecan’s speed, and often times she runs after Charger. I can then correct any mistakes I make in his run for her. Pecan finished the year ranked #58 with 566 points and 12 double q's. February 2008 - Our first trial of the new year and wow! 2 DQ's and placements in all 4 runs (2-4ths, a 3rd, and a 1st). What a way to start the year! May 2008 - One double q to go...do you think we could get it? Let's see, Peak dropped a bar in our first attempt, then had an off course in our second try. It took 3 days of trials but we finally got the 20th DQ for Peak's MACH. What a day it was - Peak earned 3 placements, her MACH, the Agility Dog Hall of Fame, and Tres got her outstanding dam title, all within an hour's time. 2009 - Two
MACH's in one year??? I still can't believe it but Peak did it. She
is an incredibly consistent agility dog and one of the biggest treat
mooches I know:) Pecan finished the year with 976 points and 28 dq's.
