Tres joined our family when she was 5 months old. She had been returned to her breeder because of “behavioral problems”. Well, her “behavioral problems” turned out to be typical golden things like shedding, carrying around socks, etc. Their loss was our gain.

Tres started competing in agility the summer of 2002. Because Cassidy had done so well, I pushed Tres too hard, too fast, and put too much pressure on her to perform. I stressed the poor girl out.

So we quit competing for a while and had puppies. My dream of breeding quality golden retrievers was realized when Tres delivered the first of 3 AgilGold litters on Friday, December 13, 2002. What an experience! She delivered 7 beautiful babies.

Going through that experience with Tres changed our relationship. We became closer. And when we came back to agility, I made it fun, as it’s supposed to be.

Tres painfully reminded me of an agility rule: Always watch your dog! In a trial last summer, I assumed Tres was on my side when I went to front cross. She saw the next obstacle and took off. We ended up colliding; Tres knocked me off my feet and fractured my foot. Too bad - we were running for a double Q!!!

Since Tres earned her MX MXJ titles, she now competes with our daughter in the preferred class. Together they have racked up 22 placements, 12 of which are 1st place finishes.

June 2008 - Tres gets another distinction, that of an outstanding dam. Her pups (Charger, Pecan, Callan, and Dusty) have racked up the agility and rally titles.
